Development of a new high‐speed train load model for dynamic calculation of railway bridges

Abstract Dynamic calculations of train crossing railway bridges must be carried out in Europe accordance with current valid standards for both new and existing bridges. The high‐speed load model (HSLM) trains to used are defined the Eurocode, denoted as HSLM‐A1 ‐A10. In near past, results gained from these dynamic have shown, that HSLM do not cover bridge vibration response level certain real operating trains. It turned application HSLM‐A might lead an unsafe design destabilization ballast layer may occur, leading safety critical track position defects eventually derailments. Hence, 2019 consortium TU Darmstadt, KU Leuven, Austrian Institute Technology REVOTEC was commissioned by German Federal Railway Authority develop a completely European should account almost all running network. project ended June 2023 this paper presents steps model, HSLM‐C, validation considering more than 300 different construction type.
